Rate Limits & Fair Use
The published per-account limits we enforce, and what happens when you hit one.
Why limits exist
Limits keep stages readable, protect inboxes from automated outreach, share AI compute fairly and make credential-stuffing and scraping expensive. They are enforced per account and per action in the database, so they cannot be bypassed from the browser.
Current limits
- Live stage chat messages: 20 per minute — Keeps live stages readable and blocks flood spam.
- Direct messages: 60 per minute — Normal conversation is unaffected; bulk outreach is not.
- Casting applications: 40 per day — Prevents scripted mass-applying to every open role.
- Casting posts: 20 per day — Producers can post freely; bots cannot flood the board.
- Booking requests: 30 per hour — Protects talent inboxes from automated booking spam.
- Shop listings and offers: 40 per hour — Keeps the marketplace free of duplicate listings.
- Shop checkouts: 20 per hour — Guards escrow and payment endpoints against abuse.
- AI Studio generations (sides, monologues, breakdowns): 60 per hour — Fair use of shared AI compute across all members.
- AI co-star voice lines: 300 per hour — A full rehearsal fits comfortably inside this limit.
- Script uploads: 30 per day — Uploads are capped at 1,000 pages per script.
- Rehearsal take share links: 40 per day — Share links are time-limited and revocable.
- Rehearsal room invitations: 40 per day — Stops invite blasts to harvested email addresses.
- Verification submissions: 5 per day — Reviews are manual; resubmitting faster does not help.
- Reports to moderators: 30 per hour — Genuine reporting is never blocked; brigading is.
Hitting a limit
You get a clear message telling you how long to wait. Nothing is lost and no penalty is recorded. Repeatedly hammering a limit with automation is treated as abuse under the Acceptable Use policy.
Higher limits
Casting agencies and high-volume vendors can request raised limits at support@scriptu.org. We may also lower a limit temporarily during an attack or incident.
